CVHS 9th grade email update for December 12th, 2008
General Info:
- RECYCLING: Please bring all paper recycling (we recycle paper, magazines,
phone books, junk mail, etc…) to school and either drop it in the green
and yellow dumpster in the back of the school or ask your child to bring it
to the dumpster or to Mrs. Matsu. In order to keep our wonderful recycling
dumpster, we have to hit our quota. Thanks for helping us. We take
catalogs and magazines!
- Mrs. Matsu is sponsoring a 12 day trip to Australia and New Zealand
during July 2009. This will be her 6th trip with students and her 3rd trip
with students to Australia . If you are interested in this trip please see

Students, Parents, and siblings are welcome to join us. Prices go up on October
8, 2008. So if you are interested, please let me know, or sign up to lock
in the current price.
From Mrs. Bibeau (Theatre):
- Theatre 1 finals will be the Tuesday (16 December)
- Format: fill in the blank/short answer
- Questions: 50

From Mr. Swenson (World Geography):
- Final exam Thursday Dec 18th
- Tuesday Dec 16th all Freshmen go to library during Geography PrepHQ with
Mrs. Chapman
From Ms. Bullis (English I):
- Your final will be broken into two parts:
- Essay - 40% - Due 12/15
- Multiple Choice Exam - 60% - Due 12/17
- For the Essay portion, you need to respond to one of the prompts
found on the class website in a well developed, academic essay. No
first or second person allowed! Papers must be typed, double-spaced,
Times New Roman font, and between 2-3 pages. If you do not meet these
guidelines, you will lose major points. You will turn in the essay
to me Monday, 12/15. If you do not have a hard copy to turn in that
day, you may turn it in late the following day, but the highest grade
you can receive is a 70. The essay is 40% of your final exam grade.
- The multiple choice part of the final exam will happen in class
12/17. It is worth 60% of your final exam grade. You are responsible
for the following topics:
- All literature read this semester, including summer reading
- Phrases and Clauses
- Parts of an essay (Jane Schaeffer method and thesis information
discussed in class.)

From Mrs. Matsu (Biology):
- Final exam will take place on Wednesday, December 17th.
- All scantron test – one period
- Students may bring a single 3 x 5 note card as a cheat sheet. They may
write or type the note card and use both sides.
- We will be reviewing in class on Monday and Tuesday. Students should come
with questions over old tests, quizzes, review sheets, etc

From Ms. Alcoriza (IPC):
- 12/15 – Second day of Finals: Multiple-choice questions. This covers
chapters 1-15.

From Mr. Li (Geometry):
- Chapter 6 Test will be on Monday, 12/15/08;
- Review of Final Exam on Wed. & Tue.;
- Final Exam will be on Thursday, 12/19/08 (50 Minutes, covered Chapter 1-6).
From Mr. Barnes (Algebra I):
- The project (which was assigned before Thanksgiving) is due Monday 12/15
- The last regular test of the cycle is on Monday 12/15. Students completed
a review sheet for Friday which we went over in class.
- The final exam in on Friday 12/19. All questions will be taken from old
tests (either directly or with slight modifications). Students should study
their old tests. We will review in class Tuesday-Thursday.
From Mr. Smith (Spanish I):
- This week will be dedicated first to presentation of projects that are due
Monday. Presentations will take at least 2 days. The rest of the week will
be summarizing what we have done during the semester to include vocabulary,
culture, the cheat sheet and the verb chart.

From Mr. Falco (Spanish 2):
- Students will present their projects during class for their final exam.
We will also go over some Hispanic culture during the days when students will
not be presenting.
From Ms. Huffman (Latin):
- Latin 1, 2 and 3 have www.nle.org
for a study guide for their midterm, which is set for Tuesday. Meanwhile,
at least half the Latin 1 Class explicitly agreed to a pop quiz on Monday…
From Ms. Heno (French):
- French 1 and 2 have their grammar final on Monday. We have already discussed
this in class.
From Mr. Rodriguez (Art):
- The Art final will be on Wednesday, December 17th.
