CVHS 9th grade email update for October 9th, 2009
General Info:
- Mrs. Matsu is sponsoring two summer international trips. Both trips are
currently accepting students and parents. The day you sign up locks
in the price.
- October 14th (Wednesday) is NOT an early dismissal day (even though the
calendar says it is). We have moved that early dismissal day to November.
- Fall Harvest Dance
When: Friday, October 30th
Where: cafegymalocketorium
Time: 7-11 pm
$3 before event - We will start selling tickets during lunch 2 weeks before
the event.
$5 at the door
- CVHS students only
- We want the students to wear their best costumes!
- There will be prizes, music, and much more!

- Monday 12th Learn basic acting terms – new vocabulary introduced
- Tuesday 13th Begin reading a 10 minute script
- Wednesday 14th – PSAT Test Day – no regular classes
- Thursday 15th make character collages
- Friday 16th students reenact a character/scene in the script in their
own words

Ms. Moumni
- I strongly suggest that they start reading chapter 5 in the Human
Geography in Action book p111 to 124 that is due Tuesday. No quiz this
week
- Monday : Current event presentation and Geopolitics Free Responses due.
- Tuesday: Case study on India ’s demography: explanation and application
on Activity #1.
- Wednesday: PSAT day + presentation day in the afternoon
- Thursday: Case study on India ’s demography, Activity #2
- Friday: Video presentation from TED recapitulating everything they have
learned and new Free Response due the following Monday (10/19/09)

- Biome Brochure Project (test grade) is due BEFORE SCHOOL on Monday.
The project must be dropped off at the biology teacher’s classroom
before first period.

From Mr. Li and Mr. Schenke (Geometry):
- Go over the PSAT practice just finished on Monday and Tuesday.
- Every student must bring the practice booklet to class, and
- The project due by the beginning of each class Monday (Oct.12).
- So the Project should be finished no late than Sunday( including
- 38 Questions on Scantron and an assay); 2. Oct. 14 Wednesday is PSAT Exam;
3. We will study Chapter 3.6 Thursday and review for chapter 3; 4. Chapter
3 test is on Friday.
From Mr. Barnes (Algebra I):
- We will be wrapping up Unit 3 (Chapter 3 in the text book) this week
- The project is due on Monday 10/19/09. Students can turn it in early (by
the end of the day on Friday 10/16/09) for 10 points extra credit on the
project
- Our next test is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, 10/21/09
From Mr. Beall (Spanish I & II):
- Spanish I: There will be a quiz on Monday over Chap. 2A. We will then
begin to study Chap. 2B. Pgs. 98 - 113 will be covered during the week with
various readings and written homework assigned as we go.
- Spanish II: We will finish Chap. 1B. Pgs. 58 - 65 will be covered by Tuesday.
There will be a quiz on Wednesday over Chap. 1B. We will then begin to study
Chap. 2A. Pgs. 70 - 77 will be covered. There will then be a test over Chap.
1A & 1B on Friday. Various readings and written homework will be assigned
as we go along.

- French 1 will have a calendar project next week. They will learn the conjugations
of regular -ir verbs and -re verbs. They will prepare an oral presentation
about their family.
- French 2 will read Je Quitte la Maison and begin their movie critic project.
They will review verb tenses, possessive adjectives and pronouns and demonstrative
adjectives and pronouns.
