CVHS 9th grade email update for October 2nd, 2009
General Info:
- Mrs. Matsu is sponsoring two summer international trips. Both trips are
currently accepting students and parents.
- July 2010 – Costa
Rica (price was held over until Oct 8, but you
can sign up after that date)
- Summer 2011 – Japan
- The PSAT will be given at Carnegie on Oct. 14, at 8:30 a.m. All 9th grades
students are highly encouraged to take the test. This is a great way to
prepare for the SAT. Students will receive a score report in December that
gives specific suggestions on how to improve academic skills. The cost is
$13.00. Students can pay their advocate between now and October 9. The Carnegie
PTO has generously volunteered to cover the cost for all 9th grade students
on Free or Reduced lunch. If parents have questions, e mail Mrs. Maxey at
emaxey@houstonisd.org.
- October 14th (Wednesday) is NOT an early dismissal day (even though the
calendar says it is). We have moved that early dismissal day to November.
From Mrs. Bibeau (Theatre I):
- Monday 4 - We will be working on movement exercises
- Tuesday 5 - quiz over stage directions, lines, levels, balance, cover
and upstaging
- Wednesday 6 - students will be working o balancing a stage picture
- Thursday 7 - students will be working on movement, balance, lines &
level exercises
- Friday 8 - students will be working on movement, balance, lines &
level exercises

Ms. Moumni
- Current event due Monday when they will have to present it.

67
- Read p 67 to 74 for Friday
- Friday: application using the Human Geography in Action work book they
will have to finish at home for Monday

- We will study Chapter 3.3-3.5 from Mon. to Wed.;

- Assignment:

From Mr. Barnes (Algebra I):
- Students need to bring their PSAT booklets to class each day next week
- We will continue working on solving equations next week
- The next quiz is Friday 10/9
- On Monday 10/5 students will be assigned their project for this grading
cycle. It will be due on Monday 10/19. This project should not take a huge
amount of time, but students should start early so they can ask questions
before hand if they have them.
From Mr. Beall (Spanish I & II):
- Spanish Iwill meet in the library on Monday & Tuesday to begin research
on their semester projects (due 12/7). Their will be an exam covering Chap.
1A & 1B on Wednesday. Pgs. 82 - 90 will be covered on Thursday &
Friday and homework(s) will be drawn from those pages/exercises.
- Spanish II will meet in the library on Monday & Tuesday to begin research
on their semester projects (due 12/7). They will resume their studies of
Chap. 1B on Wednesday. Pgs. 42 - 57 will be covered Wednesday - Friday and
homework(s) will be drawn from those pages/exercises.
From Ms. Huffman (Latin):
- With the Showcase behind us, Latin 1 has reviewed the basic structures
and is ready to spend some time on book work and language interaction. Goal
for the week, everyone finished with Chapter 2.
From Ms. Heno (French):
- French 1 is learning vocab for the family and weather. They will have
a family tree project due on Monday of next week.
French 2 will prepare a Petit Nicolas skit, listen to and perform the song
“Octobre”, write in their journals and continue to review material
learned in French 1.
From Ms. Casperson (Debate):
