CVHS 9th grade email update for September 18th, 2009
General Info:
- Mrs. Matsu is sponsoring two summer international trips. Both trips are
currently accepting students and parents.
- July 2010 – Costa
Rica (price goes up Oct 1, but you can sign up anytime)
- Summer 2011 – Japan
(The price will go up after September 3rd, so if you are interested,
please let her know)
- The Foreign Language Dept. Open House event is scheduled for 7 p.m. on
Friday, Sept. 25 in CVHS’s auditorium. Students from the various foreign
language classes will be performing skits, karaoke songs, or dramatic recitations
for their friends and family at CVHS. Dress rehearsals are on Thursday,
Sept. 24. We would love to see you there if you can make it. Contact Senior

- The PSAT will be given at Carnegie on Oct. 14, at 8:30 a.m. All 9th grades
students are highly encouraged to take the test. This is a great way to
prepare for the SAT. Students will receive a score report in December that
gives specific suggestions on how to improve academic skills. The cost is
$13.00. Students can pay their advocate between now and October 9. The Carnegie
PTO has generously volunteered to cover the cost for all 9th grade students
on Free or Reduced lunch. If parents have questions, e mail Mrs. Maxey at

From Mrs. Bibeau (Theatre I):
- Monday 21 – Begin pantomime exercises – introduce concepts
and consistency
- Tuesday 22 – work on Pantomime consistency with weight
- Wednesday 23 -work on pantomime consistency with objects
- Thursday 24 - quiz on short pantomime skit using above skill
- Friday 25 – work on pantomime with other actors

- I finally have a website, I am still in the process of uploading what

- We are starting Human geography. They will have reading every night this
week starting Monday night.

- Levels of Ecological organization illustration due Monday (was assigned
on Thursday 9/17)

From Mr. Beall (Spanish I & II):
- Spanish I: will take a quiz over Chap. 1A on Monday and then begin Chap.
1B. Various and sundry daily homeworks and/or readings as per usual for
the rest of the week.
- Spanish II: will complete the preliminary chapter on Monday and will take
the Preliminary Chap. test on Tuesday. Wednesday they will begin Chap. 1A.

- All Latin 1’s should be finished with Capitulum 1 the first part
of this week.
- The FL Showcase this Friday counts as a project grade for those performing.
- Students with alternate projects should be ready to present next week.
From Ms. Heno (French):
- French 1 has an Avoir project to be done in class on Wednesday the 23rd.
French 1 is learning être, telling time and family members.
- French 2 is reviewing the imparfait and simple future through film, song
etc. French 2 will complete their les Choriste letter project in class on
9/23/09.
