CVHS 9th grade email update for May 8th, 2009
General Info:
- We had a cancellation on the Australia & New Zealand trip
for this July. If you are interested in going, please email me as soon as
possible.
- CVHS Awards Ceremony is on Monday, May 18th starting at 6pm (dinner) and
7pm (awards). EVERYONE is encouraged to attend. Awards will be given out
at all grade levels and classes, so everyone should be there. Please see

- Final exams begin on Friday, May 22. There are two exams a day and each
exams lasts two hours.
From Mrs. Bibeau (Theatre & Comm Apps):
Theatre I:
- Monday – Intro to set design (continued)
- Tuesday – Wednesday – intro to costume design
- Thursday-Friday – intro to make-up design
Communication Applications:
- Monday – practice impromptu body preparations
- Tuesday – practice impromptu conclusions
- Wednesday – impromptu quiz & review
- Thurs-Friday – impromptu speaking test
From Mr. Swenson (World Geography):
- Test for chapter 13 and 14 Thursday and Friday May 14 & 15
From Ms. Bullis (English I):
- Literary term dictionary project has been moved to Monday, 5/18! (Project
was assigned on 4/20.)

- Free Response portion of the LTF test is Monday, 5/11

From Mrs. Matsu (Biology):
- LTF test on Monday, May 11
- We will begin prep for the pig dissection on Tuesday. Actual dissection
will begin on Thursday.
- Each student needs to have at least 4 pairs of disposable gloves for the
dissection. I encourage students to share a box among many friends.

From Ms. Alcoriza (IPC):
- We will continue with the lesson on Acids and Bases. On Friday (May 15th),
you are expected to bring to class the outcome of your “Supersaturated
Solution” and “Acid-Base” home experiments. You are also
expected to turn in your narrative essay for each experiment using turnitin.
- Test on Chapter 25 is on May 18th. Packet is also due that day.

From Mr. Li (Geometry):
- The review for the Final Exam from Monday, 05/11/09;
- The week of 5/11-5/15 for Chapter 1-6 review, Friday has a test;
- the review for Chapter 7-12 will be on the week of 05/18-05-22, a test
on Friday;

From Mr. Barnes (Algebra I):
- Quiz on Monday 5/11
- Test on Friday 5/15
- Project due on Wednesday 5/20
- Final exams start Friday 5/22 (periods 1&2 on Friday 5/22, period
3 on Tuesday 5/26, period 7 on Thursday 5/28)
- The final exam will be comprehensive over the second semester. It will
be half multiple choice and half free response. Each final exam period is
2 hours long and student should expect to spend most of the period working
on the final (it will be longer than a normal test)
- We will review for the final in class from Monday 5/18-Thurs 5/21
- Students should be looking over all of their old tests from this semester
in preparation for the final
From Mr. Smith (Spanish I):
- This week the final review will include the books Pobre Ana and Patricia
va a California . The review will pick up pace in order to cover all the
possible questions in addition to vocabulary.
- It is essential that parents push the students to take the review seriously
NOW. The day/night before the test is too late! They can't just "cram"
for this one.
From Mr. Falco (Spanish 2):
- We will continue with chapter 6A. Students will be introduced to the grammar
topics of preterite stem changing verbs and other reflexive verbs. Vocabulary
will deal with sports activities. Students will continue to work in their
workbooks and textbooks for written practice. We will also have listening
and speaking practice during class time.

- French 1 is preparing a poem in French like the one in the 8th day. French
2 is preparing the chocolate project .

- Students must have their final projects completed by May 18.
