CVHS 9th grade email update for March 6th, 2009
General Info:
- RECYCLING: Please bring all paper recycling (we recycle paper, magazines,
phone books, junk mail, etc…) to school and either drop it in the
green and yellow dumpster in the back of the school or ask your child to
bring it to the dumpster or to Mrs. Matsu. In order to keep our wonderful
recycling dumpster, we have to hit our quota. Thanks for helping us. We
take catalogs and magazines!
- Spring break is March 14 – 22. School resumes on Monday, March 23rd.

- Monday - continue presentations

From Mr. Swenson (World Geography):
- Central Asia, Chapter 10, test Wednesday and Thursday March 11th and 12th.
- There is no Geography Assignment over the Spring Break. Enjoy your time.
From Ms. Bullis (English I):
- Romeo and Juliet test – 3/13
- AP study questions/Dialectical Journal due – 3/13
- Students need to have a copy of Siddhartha by Herman Hesse and should
have it read by 3/26. There is no assignment with the novel.
- Test over Siddhartha – 3/27
- Now that the graphic novel project is over, if any students want to donate
their graphic novel to the library, Ms. Paget and I would be very grateful!

From Mrs. Matsu (Biology):
- Genetic Disorders worksheet is due Monday
- Our genetics test will take place after spring break on Tuesday, March
24th.
- There is no assignment over spring break BUT please remember to review
the genetics information over the break.

- 3/09 – Test on Chapters 16 & 22; packets on these chapters are

your experimental & research design for your Bottle Rockets.

From Mr. Li (Geometry):
- We will finish Chapter 10 this week, (10.5-10.7), Focusing on angles relationships,
segments length, and equations of circle;
- Review for chapter 10 & EOC practice are on Thursday;
- Test of Chapter 10 is on Friday;
- All assignments are the SnapGrades.
From Mr. Barnes (Algebra I):
- We will not start a new chapter this week; instead we’ll be working
on some problems related to the Pre-AP end of course test the students will
take the week after TAKS.
- There will not be any homework this week. The normal homework schedule
will resume after spring break.
- The retake for the most recent test will be during lunch on Thursday.
From Mr. Smith (Spanish I):
- Students will continue with AP works however, this time in poetry with
Jose Espronceda's "Cancion del Pirata". Students will answer a
series of questions as well as begin an individual project, a visual representation
of the poem.
From Mr. Falco (Spanish 2):
- Since we learned about Argentine culture this past week with the film
"Valentín" and about the Spanish education system, this
coming week we are going to focus more on grammar and vocabulary. Monday
We will begin chapter 5A. There will be a vocabulary quiz on Tuesday and
Wednesday for chapter 5A. We will also have a new song, and the students
will have a song quiz on Friday.
From Ms. Huffman (Latin):
- Latin 1 had the Stage 13 multiple choice on Friday. Stage 14 activities
are postponed toward the end of this week.
- The National Latin Exam is this week for all students. All classes will
review that syllabus on Monday and Tuesday.
From Ms. Heno (French):
- French 2 begins the Holocaust project.
From Mr. Rodriguez (Art):
- Art I students have three chalk pastel drawings due on Tuesday, March
10th, with a critique on Wednesday. There will be a test on Ancient Egypt
on Thursday.
