CVHS 9th grade email update for February 20th, 2009
General Info:
- RECYCLING: Please bring all paper recycling (we recycle paper, magazines,
phone books, junk mail, etc…) to school and either drop it in the
green and yellow dumpster in the back of the school or ask your child to
bring it to the dumpster or to Mrs. Matsu. In order to keep our wonderful
recycling dumpster, we have to hit our quota. Thanks for helping us. We
take catalogs and magazines!
- Early Dismissal on Wednesday, February 25 – students will
be dismissed at 1:30pm.
From Mrs. Bibeau (Theatre & Comm Apps):
Theatre Arts I
- Students have two more weeks left in the grading cycle.
- Students will be reading and analyzing characters in four new 5-minute
plays
- Students will form new groups and begin working on blocking and characterization
for new scene
- Students will have a quiz performance the following week

Communications Applications
- Students will begin learning the presentation process
- Students will select a topic and develop speaking points

From Mr. Li (Geometry):
- We will finish Chapter 9 on Monday and Tuesday( 9.6, 9.7)
Focusing on Symmetry and Dilations;
- Review for Chapter 9 is on Thursday;
- Chapter 9 Test is on Friday;
- Chapter 10.1 (Tangent properties) is on Wednesday,
(it is not tested in Chapter 9 test);
- All assignments are on the Snapgrades.
From Mr. Barnes (Algebra I):
- The cycle project is due Monday
- There is a quiz Monday and sections 9.3-9.6
- All assignments and quiz/test dates for chapter 9 are currently posted
on snapgrades
- The test for Chapter 9 is tentatively scheduled for Monday 3/2
- The retake for the last two tests will be Tuesday at lunch. Students have
these tests in their possession and have had all week to come in and ask
questions so they are ready for the retake if they choose to take it. The
highest grade on a retake is a 70.
From Mr. Smith (Spanish I):
- One class will begin on an AP work "Carta a Dios" (Letter to
God) by Gregorio Lopez y Fuentes and the other will follow after finishing
Patricia va a California which has 11 chapters vice Pobre Ana's 9. The AP
work is in a simplified version and is also bilingual format.
From Mr. Falco (Spanish 2):
- We will continue with chapter 4B. Students should be expected to take
a test over this material on Thursday. We will also go over reciprocal actions.
Various activities done in class and at home will reinforce learned material.
From Ms. Huffman (Latin):
- Latin 1 – We have finished Stage 12, Vesuvius has returned to his
customary quiescence, and we are now decamping to Roman Britain and a new
cast of characters. Stage 13 multiple choice next week, possibly as early
as Monday.
From Ms. Heno (French):
- All French classes will begin the mask project 2/24/09. All students are
preparing for the National French Contest. Tuesday is Mardi Gras day and
we are celebrating with king cake, crepes and Mardi Gras beads.
From Mr. Rodriguez (Art):
- Color pastel drawings are due Tuesday, Feb. 24 for Art I students.
From Mr. Lamane and Ms. Terry (Heath and P.E.):

- We will start chapter 7 and 8: Weight Training (Developing Muscular
Strength and Endurance) and Lifting Safely.
- Students will be given group assignment to research and come
to class to present: topics are related to sports, sport medicine, media,
economic…
