CVHS 9th grade email update for February 13th, 2009
General Info:
- RECYCLING: Please bring all paper recycling (we recycle paper, magazines,
phone books, junk mail, etc…) to school and either drop it in the
green and yellow dumpster in the back of the school or ask your child to
bring it to the dumpster or to Mrs. Matsu. In order to keep our wonderful
recycling dumpster, we have to hit our quota. Thanks for helping us. We
take catalogs and magazines!
- Mrs. Matsu is sponsoring a 12 day trip to Australia and New Zealand

From Ms. Alcoriza (IPC):
- We will start learning about the different elements and their properties.
This is the last lesson for this unit on Properties of Matter. You will
be doing two projects to culminate this unit. For one of the projects, start
gathering product labels. For the other project, you will be working in
groups on Neon Art. Details for these projects will be discussed in class.

- We will study 9.4 and 9.5 for Rotation and Compositions of Transformations
on Mon. & Wed.;
- We have a comprehensive TAKS review on Tuesday;
- Thursday is a review for 9.1--9.5, focusing on 9.4, 9.5, and an EOC practice;
- Friday has a quiz for 9.4-9.5;
- All Assignments are on the Snapgrades.
From Mr. Barnes (Algebra I):
- We are currently working on Chapter 9. All assignments and due dates for
this chapter are posted on SnapGrades.
- The project for this grading cycle is due on Monday, February 23.
- The test for Chapter 9 will be on Monday, March 2.
From Mr. Smith (Spanish I):
- We will finish the readers, do the associated comprehension activities
and assess on chapters 8 & 9 before the end of the week.
- Students need to continue to read aloud at home and STUDY the remaining
chapters.
From Mr. Falco (Spanish 2):
- We will begin chapter 4B. Students will have a vocabulary quiz on Tuesday
and Wednesday. They will also have a song quiz on Friday. They will be introduced
to vocabulary dealing with holidays and customs. We will also review reciprocal
actions and the imperfect tense and how it is used to describe things in
the past. Students will complete activities in their workbook as well as
textbook to reinforce learned material.
From Ms. Huffman (Latin):
- Latin 1 will finish Stage 12 this week and have the multiple choice by
or before Friday.
From Ms. Heno (French):
- French 1 will review passé recent, passé compose with avoir
and être and near future.
- French 2 will have a vocab project with antonyms and synonyms and idioms
with avoir.
From Mr. Rodriguez (Art):
- Due date for charcoal drawings has been extended to Tuesday, Feb 17.
From Mr. Lamane and Ms. Terry (Heath and P.E.):
