CVHS 9th grade email update for January 15th, 2010
General Info:
- No school on Monday, Jan 18th
- Stanford Testing January 20-22
- Early Dismissal on Thursday, January 21 (students are dismissed at 1:30pm)
- Mrs. Matsu is sponsoring two summer international trips. Both
trips are currently accepting students and parents. The day you sign

From Mrs. Bibeau (Theatre I):
- Students will begin their ensemble unit. They will read plays, analyze
characters, and perform scenes
- Due to the shortened week, early dismissal, and Stanford testing, students
will begin to understand group dynamics through trust building and group
exercises

- Chapter 7 review is on Thursday;

From Mr. Barnes (Algebra I):
- Students have homework for this weekend, normal homework on Tuesday night,
and then shortened homework on Wednesday and Thursady due to Stanford.
- Our next test is Tuesday 1/26. The test will cover Chapter 6 in the book.
Students will receive a test review next Friday which will be due on Monday
1/25.
From Mr. Beall (Spanish I & II):
- Spanish I: will continue to work on Chap. 5B on Monday & Tuesday --
various readings and written assignments from pgs. 256 - 263. Wednesday
- Friday we will focus on cultural activities on account of the Stanford
testing.

From Ms. Huffman (Latin):
- Latin 1 has the Capitulum 5 worksheet due on Tuesday. We are in Capitulum
6 and will do oral work and enrichment topics for the 3 days of testing.
- Those attending Region A Competition on 2/13, $20 registration is due
by Friday 1/22. Please make checks payable to Dawson High School
From Ms. Heno (French):
- French 1 will begin Dejeuner du Matin project.
- French 2 will turn in Wednesday the timeline project.
From Ms. Casperson (Debate):
- Students - turn in your student response journal on FRIDAY.
From Ms. Harris (Communication Applications):
- This week, we will be evaluating group dynamics and processes. There will
be a test on Friday 1/29 over what we have covered so far:
1) Verbal and non-verbal communication 2) Active listening and 3) Group
Dynamics and Processes. The test will be based on information covered in
class and in handouts/readings. There will be a test review the day before.
- A website is coming soon for the students and their parents/guardians
to use in order to keep posted on class assignments, projects, and due dates.
The students will be given site information as soon as it is up and running.
