CVHS 9th grade email update for December 4th, 2009
General Info:
- Final Exams begin on Tuesday, December 15 and continue
through December 18th. Exam days are early dismissal days where student
will be released from school at 1:00pm. There are 2 exams per day and each
exam is 2 hours long.
- Mrs. Matsu is sponsoring two summer international trips. Both
trips are currently accepting students and parents. The day you sign
up locks in the price.

From Mr. Li and Mr. Schenke (Geometry):
- We study Chapter 6.6 and 6.7 Mon to Tue.;
Assignment: 6.6. # 1-13, 14-30 (even) and
6.7. # 1,2, 5-14, 16-30 (even);
- We have general review for Fall semester Wed. & Thur;
- Assignments are: P. 896-907, questions which one’s digit
Number is 1, 4, 6, 8 only;
- Friday has Chapter 6 test;
- Friday has a Quiz for 6.1-6.4.
From Mr. Barnes (Algebra I):
- On Friday 12/4 Students received a packet of review problems for the final
exam. It is due on Monday 12/14, but they should be working on it a little
at a time over the next week. We will also be reviewing for part of the
class period each day for the next week while we are also finishing Unit
6. Students should also start to study for the final exam by looking over
their old tests and quizzes and making sure they understand and can do all
of the problems from those assessments. Several questions on the final will
be straight off of old tests (but with different numbers).
- There will still be regular homework this week. There will be handouts
on Monday and Tuesday night and a Unit 6 Test Review handout on Wednesday
night. We will go over the test review on Thursday.
- The Unit 6 Test is on Friday 12/11.
From Mr. Beall (Spanish I & II):
- Span. I will start their semester research project presentations on Monday,
and they will continue on subsequent days next week until they have all
had the opportunity to present. Once the presentations have been made, we
will resume our studies in the textbook (pgs. 211-214). They will probably
have a quiz over chapter 4 B on Friday.

From Ms. Huffman (Latin):
- Latin 1 will finalize all outstanding Capitula activities, and review
by way of practice copies of the National Latin Exam.
From Ms. Heno (French):
- All levels and all classes are reviewing for the final exams. French 2
has an oral and written project based on Chocolat. French 1 will have and
oral project based on the poem “Dejeuner du matin”
From Ms. Casperson (Debate):
- Student will be given an in-class review sheet on Monday, December 7th.
Monday through Friday (Dec. 7th - 11th) students will be provided class
time to work with their peers (or work independently) to complete the review
sheet. If students review with the resources provided to them (Textbook,
review sheet, hand-outs, etc.) they will be well-prepared for the examination.
- The last weekly current event assignment will be turned in on Friday,
December 11th.
Mr. Lamane and Ms. Terry (P.E.):
Lamane:
- Health: We will continue ch 13
Test on ch 12 on Thursday.

- PE: continue soccer unit
From Mr. Rodriguez (Art)::
- Art I students have a test on space/depth on Wednesday, Dec. 9th covering
linear and atmospheric perspective. The Art I final exam will consist of
a written, free-response portion (50%) and a drawing portion (50%).
