CVHS 9th grade email update for April 30th, 2010
General Info:
- Click here for the t-shirt
form. All orders should be accompanied by CASH only and returned to
Coach Terry.
- Final Exams will take place on May 24-27. On those days there will be
early dismissal at 12:45pm. Students take two exams a day (each 2 hours
long) and then are released from school.
- Final Exams are not cumulative and do not include first semester work.
The final exams count 20% of the semester average and each cycle counts
40%.
From Mrs. Bibeau (Theatre I):
- The students will continue working on their set designs.
- Collage is due on Wednesday May 5 and Monday May 10—design drawing
and 2 page set analysis due.
- Reminder: They will be going on a field trip on Thursday. Please make
sure they bring something to drink.
- Note: Mrs. Harris will be taking over theatre classes through the end

From Ms. Moumni and Mr. Swenson (AP Human Geography):
Ms. Moumni
- Full review mode for the rest of the year until the 14th of May. Students
will relate their knowledge and skills to a succession of Articles.
- During Lunch Students will have access to additional review session for
the first 2 weeks of May.
- Strategies about eh test and the FRQs.
- Games and lessons for review are also posted on my website under review.
From Ms. Bullis and Ms. Harris (English I):
Ms. Bullis
- Students need to be working on the Literary Term Dictionary project. The
project is due 5/17!
- Next week students will be taking the End of Course exam for Laying the
Foundations, which is the approved curriculum that is used in Pre-AP English
courses. The purpose of the exam is to show the students’ growth in
English. It is an extremely useful took for the sophomore English teacher,
Ms. Davis, when determining what skills need to be readdressed next year.
The test will take two days and will be completed in class.

Ms. Harris
- The students will be taking the English Laying the Foundations end-of-course
test on Monday May 3 and Tuesday May 4.
- Non-fiction Persuasive Appeals Assignment due Friday May 7 for a major
grade.

From Mrs. Matsu and Ms. Alcoriza (Biology):
- Lab on Monday and Tuesday in class - due Thursday ( Matsu only)
- Newspaper Wednesday due May 5th
- Virtual Pig Dissection handout will be given out on Wednesday and is due
Monday, May 10.
- Students needs to bring 4 pairs of gloves for dissection.
- Biology LTF (standardized end of course test) will take place on Tuesday,
May 11.

From Mr. Barnes (Algebra I):
- Next week we will do our last unit. The topic will be simplifying radicals.
It will be short and there will be a test on Friday.
- The project (assigned several weeks ago) is due on Monday May 10 by 8:30AM.
It can be turned in by 4:00PM on May 3 for 10 extra points or by 4:00PM
on May 7 for 5 extra points.
From Mr. Li (Geometry):
- We continue the project given last Friday on Monday;
- We continue to finish EOC/LTF package (50 questions)

- Go through problems Thursday;
- Questions and problems discussion on Friday.
From Mr. Beall (Spanish):
- Span. I will continue watching "La Bamba" to work on their listening
skills, continue to develop their lexical knowledge, and to review basic
grammar structures and verb conjugation. They will then transition to reading
Spanish literature to do all of the above save the listening component.
They will read "Lo fatal" by R. Dario, "Yo soy ardiente,
yo soy morena" by G.A. Becquer, "Romance del Conde Arnaldos"
by an anonymous writer, and "Romance de la perdida de Alhama"
by another anonymous writer.
- Span. II will continue watching "La Bamba" to work on their
listening skills, continue to develop their lexical knowledge, and to review
basic grammar structures and verb conjugation. They will then transition
to reading Spanish literature to do all of the above save the listening
component. They will read "El delantal blanco" by P. Vodanovich,
"A continuidad de los parques" by J.L. Borges, and "Tu me
quieres blanca" and "Peso ancestral" by A. Storni.
